Happy Chinese New Year!

Hi squeaky people! I'm really really sorry I haven't updated this section for so long. I've been away on trips, business in nature and been busier than ever! My apologies (somehow, I've been apologising everytime I make an entry cos the duration in between entries are always so far apart).

To all my Chinese friends out there, Gong Xi Gong Xi! Happy Chinese New Year! It's the year of the rat, and I've lived 2 cycles in the Chinese Zodiac. I think that if it were called the year of the mouse, it won't be so 'lively', as mice are generally more timid compared to rats. I mean, the rodents you see in the backstreets of Uptown D'sara are really rats, not mice. These rats have bristled hair and segmented looking tails, really grotesque! I would consider petting a mouse, but maybe not a rat because of the impression I have of them. You watch those 80's cartoons and you'll see rats portrayed as mean and nasty rodents!

I have seen several documentaries however, and this guy travels to India and adopts a rat as a pet. He travels with it in his car, makes a special seat for it, and let's it eat from his mouth! The rats huge, I must say.

Either way, I wish you prosperity beyond your own comprehension this year of the rat. Just make sure you prosper financially, spiritually, and physically fit...

No, not this 'physical prosperity at the behind'!

Take a guess

The following questions ring in your mind as you pnder the fate of the rabbit mentioned in previous entries...

"Did they keep they rabbit as a pet?"

"Was the rabbit lost during the tennis session?"

"Did they go around the neighbourhood looking for the rabbits owner in an attempt to return it?"

"What was Malicious even thinking? Bringing a rabbit to tennis session??"

Oh stop guessing and say for once.....

I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST....RABBIT-FOUND-WANDERING-ON-YOUR-PORCH MOMENT!

Intruder! Quick, get it!!! finale

And so, the rabbit spent the night in our frontyard, with a nice box for shelter (you know, rodents are generally nervous animals because they are most often prey), and juicy carrot to nibble on when it's hungry. We didn't shut it in the house because the rabbit didn't really belong to us, and we thought it might know its way home (you'll never know right?). If you chapterize the rabbit's life, I suppose that moment would have been called "A Night with the E's".
Next morning, dad opened the door to leave for work.
*Rabbit comes rushing towards dad from the yard*
*Dad pets it and leaves for work*

Then it was sister leaving for work an hour later.
*Rabbit comes rushing towards sister from the yard*
*Sister pets it affectionately and leaves for work*
Tell me you feel the love from the color of the font when we pet the rabbit...

My tennis session with Chian Wen was at 10 o clock, 2 hours away, so I didn't wake up until it was 9. Mom, on the other hand, wakes up at 8.30 every morning then...

Mom opens the door to allow fresh air in.
*Rabbit comes rushing towards mom from the yard*
*Mom... lets out a YELL and quickly SLAMS the door shut*
Can you imagine the look on the rabbit's face?

Anyway, I was stil sleeping when mom yelled out and I rushed down to see what happened. Next thing I heard from my mom was, "Garry, bring the rabbit along to tennis or don't go!"

Intruder! Quick, get it! part 2...

So there it was, the rabbit they mentioned earlier when I got home.

Linx: Rabbit, come! Come, rabbit, come!

*Rabbit happily hops over to Linx and keeps low*

*Linx keeps stroking and petting the rabbit*

*Dad tries to lift Rabbit but it easily escapes and runs out to the yard*

*Malicious tries to lift Rabbit but it easily escapes and runs out to the yard*

*Linx tries to lift Rabbit but it easily escapes and runs out to the yard*

*Mom makes no effort to even go near Rabbit, watching from afar*

That big rabbit, which was very large, meant that it had been well fed and reared by someone, most probably from around the neighbourhood in BU11. Everytime we pet it, it would tilt its ears low, seemingly enjoying the strokes and attention it was receiving! What more, everytime you called out to it, just like Linx did, "Come Rabbit, come!", it would really come to you! Obviously it did not like being held up, for it kept escaping from our clutches. It was late, so we had a box for it to sleep in, along with a nice juicy carrot for it to nibble on if it got hungry.
To b continued...

Intruder! Quick, get it!!

Let me tell you one of my favourite stories of all time. This happened approximately 4 years ago, when I was still staying in Bandar Utama and I have just recently finished Form 6 as of then. The neighbourhood was a quiet place, with minimal number of kids runing around, unlike the days of old, where we would just cycle out to the village nearby and buy stuffs to eat and play.

So like, I said, I was still staying in Bandar Utama, and I was coming home from training at KDU on a Thursday night. As I got home, my sister rushed to me and in a very excited manner, exclaimed about how a rabbit had intruded our home, right in front of the doorsteps only to hurry away when they approached it. There she went on, chattering away on how the rabbit came in and how cute it was, that I missed all the action and all the fun.............not!!

Lo behold, we were watching TV when I looked behind at the door, and there it was!!

"Look, the rabbit has returned!!", said I.

"Where?? Oh, so cute!!"said Linx.

"Ahhhh! Don't let it get near me!! Shoo shoo, go away!", said my mom.

".................", said my dad.

Anyway, it was a very tame rabbit, highly likely escaped from another household.

To be continued..............

War of the Titans

*CLASH*!
*CLANK*!
*ROAR* followed by a *SLASH*
*GRUNT* and a *DODGE*

That seems to be how war sounded like, if you imagined it in the movies. However, I was engaged in a different kind of war 2 nights ago. Ok, let's tone down a bit, for it ain't exactly war but a struggle for peace. Peace for my sister sleeping in her room, peace for my parents free from accidentally stepping on "it", peace for me for not having to "struggle" with "it" everytime it shows up. However, I never achieved my ultimate goal, and I have no idea where "it" went. What was "it"? Remember a certain post I contributed a month back about snails invading the pool, and tadpoles in the water lily pot?

IT!!

Well, there were 2 "it"s, the 1st one being in the toilet shared by my sister and I. This one was relatively easy to tackle. It perched on the toilet window grill, and all I had to do was poke at its hind legs to make it jump out of the window, but not without me having to slowly push the window open (triggering the house security alarm in the process). "It" was small.

So I went on doing what I was doing, and I wanted to continue doing whatever I was doing, but my sister stopped my from doing what it was that I have been doing, and asked me to help her in doing something else, which proved difficult doing!

A huge and heavy frog stuck on her wardrobe stared at me ominously when I peered over the edge of the closet. Argh, it looked slimy and wet somehow, and I wondered if it was able to secrete anymore disgusting fluids. Si, I grabbed a newspaper, *seniore, it jumped around the room and finally landed on my room door*. I continued chasing after it, poking its hinds to make it jump to the direction I intended it for. It leapt into the storeroom, and I thought it was sufficient for the night (the alarm was on, it was late and dark outside, I had no other reason to pursue my struggle with it as I was tired). I went into my room, but still worried about it, I peered out of my room door through the little opening...and there it was... peeking at me from on top of the K-room window...

How friendly! (quote Yuen when I told her about the frog spending the night in the vicinity).

Problems with pests

We have a water feature at home, right at the yard outside our kitchen. When we first installed it, I told myself, "Ok Garry, you're gonna wash it every month so that it's clean and nice!".

Month#1: Enthusiastically washed it

Month#2: Tired to do it

Month#3: Lazy to do it

Month#4: Not at home to do it

Month#5: Tournament, so can't do it

Month#6: Business trip overseas, so can't do it

Believe, the list of excuse goes on. But that was last year, and now I help my parents out instead of doing it alone, which is way too time consuming. 4 months back, we noticed that there were a lot of tadpoles and it was undesirable to have them in it. Imagine the number of frogs that would be jumping in and out! So we drained the water using a hose and pressure to suck the tadpoles out. Unfortunately, the following month was still the same problem, so we cleaned the water feature with extra effort and this time we poured all the water out. I tell you, those silly frogs are really good jumpers! They cling on to anything at all, from the grills of the window, to the grills of the gate, even onto plants. You'd wonder how'd they get there in the first place. It's probably a good position for them to feed on insects. It's funny, because in the morning when I open the door, I find myself face-to-face with Mr Frog Face right here:

Alright, we were happy to find that no more tadpoles were bred in the pool, so we proceeded to clean it, thinking that it would be over sooner with less work of emptying the pool. To our horror, we find dozens of baby snails all over!!! What's worse, these kind of snails have no or very small shells, different from the typical snails you see on the road in the gardens. So once again we emptied the pool and there was more work as yet again. One day, these animals will defeat us, I tell you. I even had a snail sticking to my shoe which I left outside to wash!

Silly snails and frogs, I tell you!

Friends Forever

I could use a dip!

I've always enjoyed swimming... I'm pretty sure everyone who knows how to swim loves it too! It's a great way to exercise for one, where you don't strain your joints compared to jogging or walking. What's more, it's more of a total package because you work the entire body rather than just the upper or the lower portion.I wish I could swim like an otter... Have you seen the way they break the shells of the clams they eat? Cute, I tell you! I considered going for a swim the past weeks but just didn't find the time and the motivation to go. Possibly it's the lack of company, and the timing. Firstly, Teng Teng was free during the weekdays but I ain't. Our weekends are just packed with activities laid out several weeks back (blockbusters coming out this summer, they're crazy I tell ya! Movies this year are good you wanna bang your head in disbelief!).
These days, the weather's a little warm + a bit of haze. I'm actually choking from my mucus this morning. I don't know about you, but I need to drink more water and get more sleep to prevent myself from falling sick.
Ciao!

Nothing much ado

In the mornings or wherever I go when I used to drive my Kancil, the only radio station I could tune in to was Light and Easy. These days, I listen more of Hitz and Mix because L&E's theme is getting boring for me. I noticed something this morning when I was on my way to my office:
Listening to 92.9 in the Klang Valley at 9.29 in the morning. Yeah, speak about coincidence or what? Oh boy, ain't I late for work??? In case you're wondering, the red ribbon signifies World AIDS Day. It's a reminder to us that it's there.

I am like a bee, I always fly away....

As of the past month, I've been busy as a bee, or rather, I've been like ants, but not to the extent of working non-stop like them, of course.
You know, I once had a neighbour who worked all day in his garden, when I stayed at Sg Buloh. He never stops working on his garden, no matter rain or shine. What did my mom call him? The Ants' King!

Yeah, doesn't he look gorgeous? Ehem, excuse me for the horrific crown drawing. After all, it ain't glamorous to be an ant, what more an ant king?

I am like a bee, I always fly away... (sing that to Nelly Furtado's I'm Like a Bird).
